Alcoholism Council of New York wins Award of Program Excellence in Addictions Education

The Alcoholism Council of New York (ACNY) has been selected as the 2003 winner of the Award of Program Excellence in Addictions Education.

The announcement was made on August 28 by the Institute for Professional Development in the Addictions, an agency dedicated to strengthening the knowledge and skills of the multidisciplinary addiction workforce in order to promote quality in prevention, treatment, research, education, training, and policy development.

For over four decades the Alcoholism Council of New York has been an innovator in providing the community with information and education about addiction and it’s treatment and prevention. The Education and Training Services Department of ACNY educates over 3,300 students annually with courses necessary for the counselor credential issued by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, as well as in other specialized training programs.

Knowing the importance of collaborating with other entities in the chemical dependency treatment and prevention field, ACNY has worked with the Manhattan Committee on Alcoholism, departments of probation and parole, area school districts, and a wide range of treatment providers.

The award will be presented at the NYS Addictions Professional Day event sponsored by the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, IPDA, and Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Providers of New York State on September 8, 2003 in Albany, New York at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
