Education and Training Services (ETS)

Department Policies

Since education and training hours from a single course may be split up and applied to different CASAC categories, save catalogs and syllabuses distributed in classes to support your claims for credit in particular categories of education and training requirements. Self-evaluation forms are available from the Education and Training Services Department to help students keep track of CASAC course requirements.

ADMISSION:
Space is limited. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Space will not be confirmed unless full payment is received one week prior to the course scheduled start date.

Register early in person, or via the internet:
tstewart.acny@alcoholism.org.
For inquiries, call (212) 252-7001, ext. 122.

ATTENDANCE:
To ensure compliance with the guidelines established by the NYSOASAS, the Education and Training Services Department has adopted the following policy:
  • Programs will begin and end at the designated times.
  • Participants are expected to be present at the start of the program and attend the full program for the designated number of hours.
  • Breaks and lunch hours do not count towards credentialing hours.
  • Certificates of completion will not be issued to participants who arrive more than 10 minutes after the start or leave before the program ends.
  • An attendance sheet for your personal signature is provided immediately before each session. Personal signatures are the ONLY acceptable documentation of attendance. Individuals who fail to sign will be considered ABSENT.

CANCELLATION:
Unless otherwise stated, cancellation of registration less than seven (7) days prior to the scheduled program date will result in the issuance of a credit minus 10% of the fee. This credit may be used in registering for any other program offering within one year of the original program date. ACNY is unable to provide refunds, except in the event of a cancellation of the program.

PAYMENT:
Accepted forms of payment are check, money order, or credit card. Cash payments will NOT be accepted.

STUDENT CONDUCT:
As a student of the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor, Credentialed Prevention Professional, or Credentialed Prevention Specialist Education Program, participants are expected to conduct themselves in a manner appropriate for a classroom setting and abide by ACNY classroom policies which are kept on file in the ETS Manager's office. Failure to comply with ACNY's Policies may result in one or more of the following disciplinary actions: *Verbal/written warning, *Filing of incident report, *Dismissal from the class; and or *Termination from ACNY's Education and Training Program.

ACNY is wheelchair accessible. Please let us know one day prior to the first session so that we can provide special assistance, if needed. Voice or sign language interpreter requires one month's prior notice. Call (212) 252-7001, ext.122, ETS Department.
